Who We Actually Are
Started in 2019 after watching too many capable people struggle with basic financial decisions. We're not here to sell you dreams about instant wealth. We teach practical skills that work in real Australian business environments.
How This Started
Back in 2018, I was consulting with small business owners around Canberra. The pattern was obvious — people had good ideas but couldn't read their own financial statements. They'd make gut decisions when data would've helped.
So we built something different. Not an MBA program or a get-rich scheme. Just practical education for people who need to understand money but don't have years to spend on theory.
By 2023, we'd worked with over 340 individuals across NSW and ACT. Some went on to start businesses. Others just got better at managing what they already had. Both outcomes matter.
Who Teaches Here
Our instructors come from actual business backgrounds. They've made mistakes, recovered from them, and know how to explain what they learned without the academic jargon.
Callum Fitzwilliam
Entrepreneurship Program Director
Ran three businesses before turning thirty — two succeeded, one didn't. Now teaches startup fundamentals and cash flow management. Prefers spreadsheets to motivational quotes.
Linnea Thorvaldsen
Lead Financial Educator
Worked in corporate finance for twelve years before switching to education. Specializes in breaking down complex financial concepts into language normal humans can understand.
Our Teaching Philosophy
We focus on application over theory. You'll work with real numbers, actual case studies, and scenarios you might face next week.
Real-World Context
Every module uses examples from Australian businesses. Tax laws, superannuation, GST — we cover what actually applies here, not generic international advice.
Practical Application
You'll build financial models, create budgets, and analyze real business data. The goal is competence, not just comprehension.
Honest Feedback
We critique work directly. If your financial projection doesn't make sense, we'll explain why. No participation trophies.
Flexible Scheduling
Most participants work full-time. Sessions run evenings and weekends. Materials are accessible online when you need them.
Small Group Focus
Maximum fifteen people per cohort. Means more individual attention and actual discussions, not lecture halls.
Ongoing Support
Questions don't stop after the program ends. Alumni can reach out when they hit real-world problems.
Finding the Right Program
Never run a business before?
Our Foundations track starts with basics — how to read a P&L statement, what cash flow actually means, and how to build a simple business budget. No prerequisites needed.
Already operating but struggling with finances?
The Business Financial Management program helps existing operators get control of their numbers. We analyze your current situation and identify specific improvements.
Planning to start something new?
Startup Essentials covers validation, pricing strategy, initial funding options, and realistic growth projections. We're skeptical of most ideas — which is useful.
Need specific skills quickly?
Individual workshops run throughout the year. Topics include tax planning, contract negotiation, financial forecasting, and pricing strategies. Single-day format.
